FLASHNEWS:

Maryam acquittal, country will move toward political stability

Islamabad, September 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Former President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Dr. Shahid Rasheed Butt on Friday said the acquittal of PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz will increase political stability in the country, which will have a positive impact on the overall business environment. Politicians should stop using important institutions and courts for political interests, he said.

Shahid Rashid Butt said that the Islamabad High Court has acquitted Maryam Nawaz in the Avenfield reference and annulled her sentence, saying that no asset case can be framed against her as she was not a public office holder. The court observed that NAB has failed to prove the allegations and judgment cannot be given on hearsay, he added.

He observed that the decision of the High Court has raised questions about the performance of NAB and the reputation of this institution has been further damaged. Shahid Rashid Butt further said that the US is one of the largest export and import markets of Pakistan and daily blaming her for political motives is condemnable as it is against the national interests.

He said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is working according to the country’s interests. He wants cordial relations with America, China and Afghanistan and does not want to make relations with one country conditional on relations with another country, which is a very wise policy. All countries are important to Pakistan, in which the USA, KSA, UK, China and Afghanistan are of particular importance, he said, adding that the masses and the business community have great expectations from the new Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

He is facing problems like weak foreign exchange reserves, high inflation, increased volume of imports, high fuel prices, unprecedented electricity bills and flood disasters which have left the public reeling. The finance minister has reduced the value of the dollar, which will be a big relief to the people if it is reduced on a permanent basis. Since his arrival, the country’s debt has been reduced by about fifteen hundred billion rupees, which is a very positive development, he said.
