Karachi: Mayor Murtaza Wahab praised the Karachi business community for their role in city development, noting that Rs2.1 billion has been allocated for improvements in the Korangi Industrial Area. He emphasized the need to address infrastructure and utility issues during a luncheon at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).

According to North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Mayor Wahab discussed ongoing initiatives, including a pilot project to treat and recycle 500 million gallons of sewage water and the upcoming inauguration of the Malir Expressway's first phase. The Mayor also highlighted the Yellow Line Bus Transit project for Korangi and Landhi residents and announced plans for the Baloch Colony Expressway's completion in three months. He addressed concerns over the imposition of local government tax on electricity bills, which, despite criticism, resulted in a Rs228 million check from K-Electric for city welfare.

During the event, KATI President Junaid Naqi and other industry leaders expressed concerns about inadequate tax allocations for Karachi, despite the city's significant contribution of Rs1882 billion in taxes. They pointed to infrastructure, drainage, and sewage challenges as major obstacles for local industries, while also highlighting the ongoing issue of water supply and the influence of the tanker mafia. The industry leaders called for collaboration with local government bodies to resolve these issues and improve conditions in the industrial area.
