KARACHI: Meezan Bank Ltd. (MEBL) announced its financial results for the second quarter of the calendar year 2026, reporting a profit of PKR 25.5 billion, an increase of 6% compared to the previous year and 9% from the previous quarter. Along with the results, the bank declared an interim cash payout of PKR 8.0 per share, surpassing expectations.
According to AKD Securities Limited, the bank's net returns rose by 5% year-on-year and 10% quarter-on-quarter to PKR 67.4 billion, primarily due to asset growth. Deposits saw a significant increase, growing 23% year-on-year and 3% quarter-on-quarter to PKR 3.7 trillion as of June 2026. Meanwhile, the investment portfolio expanded by 21% year-on-year and 8% quarter-on-quarter to PKR 2.9 trillion, and financing rose by 39% year-on-year and 7% quarter-on-quarter to PKR 1.6 trillion.
The return on Islamic financing and assets increased by 15% year-on-year and 11% quarter-on-quarter to PKR 117.0 billion, while profit on deposits grew by 31% year-on-year and 12% quarter-on-quarter to PKR 49.6 billion. As a result, the bank's estimated net interest margins fell to 6.2%, down from 7.2% in the same period last year, but up from 5.8% in the previous quarter.
