Minister Ahsan Iqbal Advocates for Expedited Energy Projects in Gwadar

Islamabad, In a concerted effort to bolster Gwadar's development, Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives (P and D) Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal has called for the rapid completion of the Gwadar Power Plant, emphasizing its significance in enhancing the region's energy infrastructure. This directive aims to facilitate Gwadar's progression into a leading economic and trade center.

According to Zameen.Com, during a meeting attended by key ministry officials, the Managing Director of the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), and the Chinese Embassy Minister Counsellor Yang Guangyuan, Minister Iqbal stressed the necessity of the 300MW coal power project for Gwadar's development. The project is viewed as a cornerstone for providing reliable electricity to support the area's burgeoning infrastructure and potential industrial growth.

Minister Iqbal acknowledged the collective impact of various China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects in the area, highlighting their contributions to infrastructure, healthcare, and education. He commended previous administrations for addressing the historical lack of essential services, such as water and electricity, in Gwadar. With initiatives like the Gwadar Port City, New Gwadar International Airport, and East Bay Expressway, Gwadar is poised for significant transformation, reinforcing its status as the "gateway of CPEC."

The meeting underscored the government's determination to fast-track the second phase of CPEC, integrating it with new economic corridors. Minister Iqbal's leadership reflects a strategic vision to transform Gwadar into a dynamic maritime trade hub and a modern port city, enhancing Pakistan's economic landscape and its strategic positioning in the region.
