Mobilink Bank Launches Climate Insurance for Farmers and Livestock Owners

Islamabad: Mobilink Bank has introduced Climate Shock Insurance to safeguard small and medium-scale farmers and livestock owners from the growing risks associated with climate change. The new insurance product provides financial protection against losses caused by extreme weather events, helping farmers maintain their livelihoods in an increasingly volatile climate.

According to Mobilink Bank, the insurance is integrated into the Bank’s existing Agri-Lending and Livestock offerings, streamlining access to coverage and enabling faster payouts compared to traditional disaster relief systems. The initiative is part of the Bank’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, focusing on enhancing resilience in Pakistan’s agricultural sector. Farmers and livestock owners will receive protection against climate-related disasters such as droughts, heavy rainfall, plant diseases, and livestock-related challenges. The insurance covers key crops like wheat and rice.

Atta-ur-Rehman, Chief Business Officer of Mobilink Bank, emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting that climate change is an immediate threat to the Bank’s agri-borrowers. He stated, “We strive to provide them with peace of mind, knowing they are financially protected against climate-related disasters, ensuring the survival of their crops and livestock.”

Mobilink Bank, a member of the VEON group, aims to empower Pakistan’s agricultural workforce through partnerships with leading insurance providers, offering climate-specific insurance products designed to support sustainable development in vulnerable regions.
