Mobilink Bank Partners with Legal Aid Society to Support Women’s Inheritance Rights in Pakistan

Islamabad: Mobilink Bank, a prominent digital microfinance institution in Pakistan, has joined forces with Legal Aid Society to assist women in securing their inheritance rights through legal support and awareness initiatives. The partnership is part of Mobilink Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, focusing on overcoming the obstacles women face in claiming their rightful inheritance.

According to Mobilink Bank's press release, the collaboration will provide financial backing for legal cases concerning women's inheritance, including those affected by climate-related issues such as displacement and documentation loss. This initiative will offer comprehensive legal assistance, including case assessment, documentation support, court representation, and follow-up services until resolution.

Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, President and CEO of Mobilink Bank, emphasized the importance of financial empowerment, stating that it requires a supportive ecosystem that ensures women's access to their rightful assets. Barrister Haya Emaan Zahid, CEO of Legal Aid Society, highlighted the initiative's significance in linking access to justice with economic empowerment, noting that inheritance is crucial for women's dignity and independence.

Mobilink Bank's efforts in inheritance rights also encompass digital empowerment through financial tools. The bank has introduced Pakistan's first in-app inheritance calculator, aimed at helping women understand their inheritance rights through its Dost App. This technological approach, combined with legal aid and community engagement, seeks to dismantle the barriers preventing women from accessing their economic rights.

Legal Aid Society, with over a decade of experience, plays a vital role in promoting access to justice for women and underserved communities in Pakistan. The organization has reached millions through legal awareness campaigns and has provided substantial legal representation and mediation services. As part of this initiative, sessions on legal literacy and financial empowerment will be held to educate communities about women's inheritance rights.

This partnership enhances Mobilink Bank's social impact agenda, contributing to a more inclusive and resilient Pakistan where women have equitable access to rights and opportunities.
