Mobilink Bank Partners with VBF to Enhance Financial Literacy Among Women and Youth

Islamabad, 12 Oct 2023:Mobilink Bank, in alliance with Vision-Building Future (VBF) and Shirakat Partnership for Development, has been actively participating in the European Union (EU) funded initiative “Power to Youth,” aimed at delivering financial literacy training to over 100 young individuals, with a particular focus on women. This initiative seeks to enable social and economic empowerment among the youth, arming them with the necessary skills to become change agents within their communities, according to the press release issued by Mobilink Bank.

The “Power to Youth” program comprised three structured sessions, each meticulously devised to imbue participants with pivotal financial knowledge and essential skills. Each session was conducted in various locales: Village Gorsiyan, UC Raman Tehsil Gujjar Khan; Dhoke Khaba, Tehsil Rawalpindi; and Rehmatabad, Rawalpindi Cantt, wherein 40 low-income women, 25 young men and women, and 35 women entrepreneurs were trained respectively. The sessions covered a spectrum of financial topics, from digital account opening, financial awareness, and personalized loan schemes, to knowledge dissemination about financial products, borrowing practices, sustainable loan utilization, and entrepreneurial strategies.

Ghazanfar Azzam, President and CEO of Mobilink Bank, expressed that the “Power to Youth” initiative showcases the bank’s unwavering commitment towards triggering genuine transformation through financial empowerment. He conveyed that Mobilink Bank perceives knowledge as a fundamental pillar of progress and remains fervently dedicated to equipping low-income and young entrepreneur women with critical skills and knowledge necessary for achieving success. “Our partnership with VBF serves as a testament to our commitment to shaping a society where everyone has the means to thrive, thereby fostering a more equitable and prosperous future for all,” he noted.

Though Mobilink Bank, a part of the global digital operator VEON group, has previously been involved in various socio-economic developmental projects, this collaboration specifically underscores their robust commitment towards elevating financial literacy and inclusivity, especially focusing on empowering women and youth.
