Murree Expressway Expansion to Boost Tourism and Connectivity

Murree: In an effort to enhance tourism and improve road connectivity between Rawalpindi, Murree, and Kashmir, the government has initiated a significant expansion of the Murree Expressway.

According to Zameen.Com, the expansion project, valued at PKR 1.2 billion, will extend the highway by 17 kilometers from Rawalpindi to Sunny Bank in Murree. Tenders for this construction have already been released on the e-tender platform, with the deadline for submissions set for August 17. This development is part of the annual development program (ADP) and is scheduled for completion over the next six months, with construction activities starting simultaneously from both route ends.

The project is designed with an emphasis on environmental sustainability, incorporating the planting of fruit and native pine trees along the route, reflecting the cultural heritage of the Pothohar region. The plan also includes setting up rest areas with solar-powered lighting to provide energy-efficient amenities for travelers.
