National Refinery Limited Reports Strong Financial Performance and Future Outlook

Karachi: National Refinery Limited (NRL) convened a corporate briefing session to discuss its financial results for the fiscal year 2026 and outline its future outlook. The company reported a 43% year-over-year increase in net sales, reaching PkR441 billion. This growth was attributed to higher throughput and increased fuel prices. The company ended the year with a net profit of PkR6.2 billion, a significant turnaround from the previous year's loss of PkR14.9 billion.

According to AKD Securities Limited, NRL's production for motor spirit, high-speed diesel, residual fuel oil, and lube base oil saw substantial year-over-year increases. Specifically, production grew by 29%, 35%, 20%, and 29% respectively over the previous fiscal year. Gross Refining Margins (GRMs) for FY26 were reported at US$11.95 per barrel, a threefold increase compared to last year, with capacity utilization rising to 69% from 56%.

The company's management highlighted that the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) on residual fuel oil affected domestic sales, making exports more economical than local sales.
