NEPRA Announces Relief of PKR 1.23 Per Unit for November 2024 FCA

Karachi: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of PKR 1.23 per kilowatt-hour for the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) of November 2024. This adjustment will be reflected in the electricity bills of K-Electric consumers for February 2025.

According to a statement by K-Electric, the FCA mechanism is a response to global fuel price fluctuations and changes in the generation mix. These costs are adjusted in consumer bills after NEPRA's review and approval. When global fuel prices decline, consumers experience reduced charges through negative FCA.

The regulatory authority's decision specifies that the FCA relief will not extend to all consumer categories. Exemptions include Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), lifeline consumers, prepaid metering consumers, domestic consumers using up to 300 units, and agricultural consumers.
