Nestlé Leads Gains as KSE-100 Index Surges Past 145,000

Karachi: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) saw a significant boost on Tuesday, with the KSE-100 index climbing 2,051.33 points, a 1.43% increase, to reach a record high of 145,088.50. This surge was led predominantly by Nestlé, which saw its stock price jump 10% to 9,568.15.

The KSE-30 index also experienced a notable rise, gaining 716.40 points, marking a 1.63% increase to close at 44,712.55. This reflects a substantial year-to-date increase of 23.58% for CY25 and 17.19% for FY26.

Among the top performers, Nestlé was joined by the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL), which saw their stock prices rise by 9.83% and 9.71% respectively. This contributed to the overall market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) reaching 17,343.83 billion rupees, equivalent to 61.36 billion US dollars, marking a 1.37% daily increase.

The market's total trading volume reached 788.46 million shares, with a total value of 52.78 billion rupees. The day's trading also saw significant contributions from other gainers such as SAZEW and PSX, with the latter registering a 5.44% increase.

Conversely, the day's top losers included PGLC, MUGHAL, and BNWM, with respective declines of 2.43%, 2.33%, and 2.31%. Despite these losses, the overall sentiment on the trading floor remained positive.

On the regional front, the Chinese market saw a slight increase of 0.5%, while the Indian market experienced a marginal decline of 0.2%. Other Asian markets, including Indonesia and Taiwan, showed mixed performances.

The KSE's performance reflects robust investor confidence, underpinned by strong corporate earnings and favorable economic indicators. As the market continues to reach new heights, analysts remain optimistic about sustained growth in the coming months.
