OGDC Begins Gas and Condensate Production from Bitrism East-1 Well in Sindh

Islamabad: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has initiated gas and condensate production from the Bitrism East-1 exploratory well in the Khairpur district of Sindh province. This development represents a step forward in the effort to harness new hydrocarbon resources for production.

According to Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, the Bitrism East-1 well is currently yielding 7.0 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and 200 barrels of condensate daily from the Basal Sands. The production levels are anticipated to increase as the well's flow stabilizes.

OGDC initially announced the discovery of gas and condensate at Bitrism East-1 on October 1, 2025, within the Massive and Basal Sands of the Lower Goru Formation. To expedite production, OGDC utilized in-house resources to construct an approximately 28-kilometer, 8-inch-diameter flowline connecting the well to the Sinjhoro Plant for processing. The processed gas is now being supplied to the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network, enhancing Pakistan's domestic gas supply.

OGDC holds a 77.5 percent working interest in the Bitrism Exploration Licence, operating in partnership with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), which owns the remaining 22.5 percent. The production commencement at Bitrism East-1 underscores OGDC's focus on advancing new discoveries into production, bolstering domestic hydrocarbon supplies, and contributing to Pakistan's energy security.
