OGDC Commences Oil Production from Bobi Deep-1 Well in Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC), Pakistan's prominent exploration and production entity, has initiated oil production from the Bobi Deep-1 well in the Sanghar district of Sindh. This development represents a pivotal moment in OGDC's strategy to expedite the advancement of domestic hydrocarbon resources.

According to Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, the Bobi Deep-1 well is producing 2,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) from the Massive Sand of the Lower Goru Formation. The discovery was originally announced on June 3, 2026, and the company swiftly completed the installation of a 4-inch, 1.5-kilometre flowline, linking the site to the Bobi Plant. This rapid deployment has facilitated the early monetization of the discovery and the timely start of production.

With full operational control and a 100% working interest in the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease, OGDC executed the project utilizing its own resources. The start of production is expected to bolster the domestic energy supply and decrease Pakistan's dependency on imported oil. OGDC continues to focus on enhancing exploration and production activities in line with national objectives for energy security.
