ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has inaugurated the second cohort of its all-female Management Trainee Officers Programme for 2026-27, welcoming 52 graduates from various academic backgrounds across Pakistan. The initiative is part of OGDC’s strategy to enhance female participation in the energy sector, reflecting its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

According to Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, a ceremony was held at the OGDC Training Institute to officially welcome the new trainees. Ahmed Hayat Lak, the MD/CEO of OGDC, highlighted the significance of female representation in the company as a sustainable organizational goal. He stated that an increased presence of women is expected to foster a more inclusive work environment and contribute to the company’s growth objectives, including a targeted doubling of production over the next three years.

The 52-week programme offers a comprehensive training experience, integrating classroom instruction, on-the-job training, field visits, and departmental placements. Executive Director (HR) Shahzad Safdar noted that this second iteration of the programme builds upon lessons learned from the inaugural batch, aiming to thoroughly prepare participants for careers in the energy sector.

OGDC’s first all-female batch of management trainees was inducted in July 2025. Participants from this initial group shared their experiences, commending the practical insights gained and the professional opportunities provided by the company. The second batch's training will focus on technical and professional development, equipping the trainees with essential skills and exposure necessary for success in the industry.
