Sohbatpur: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has partnered with the Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) to construct 100 disaster-resilient homes in District Sohbatpur, Balochistan, aiming to aid families severely impacted by the 2022 floods. The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Ahmed Hayat Lak, Managing Director and CEO of OGDCL, and Arifa Mazhar, Chief Executive of SPO.
With an investment of Rs. 200 million, the OGDCL-Model Village will provide secure, eco-friendly housing for low-income families residing near the Uch Gas Field. The development will feature solar-powered homes equipped with bore-hole water systems to ensure sustainability.
In addition to housing, the village will include communal facilities such as a community hall, mosque, and children's play area, designed to foster community resilience and social connections.
The project will utilize local labor and resources, thereby supporting both recovery efforts and the local economy. This initiative underscores OGDCL's commitment to integrating climate-smart infrastructure, renewable energy, and community empowerment into its operations.
A transparent selection process will be implemented to identify beneficiaries, prioritizing the most vulnerable families. This effort aims to restore a sense of dignity and security to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
