Quetta: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully tapped into a new natural gas source at the Uch-35 well in Dera Bugti, Balochistan, a significant milestone for both the company and the nation's energy sector.
According to Zameen.Com, OGDCL announced this achievement through a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), revealing that the Uch-35 well was drilled to a depth of 1,345 metres within the productive Sui Main Limestone (SML) formation.
This breakthrough is expected to initially deliver 5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas. To bring the new gas supply online, OGDCL has installed a 1.2-kilometre, 8-inch flow line that connects Uch-35 directly to the Uch Gas Processing Plant. This integration ensures a consistent gas flow to Uch Power Limited (UPL) and highlights OGDCL's role as the sole stakeholder and operator of the Uch Development & Production Lease.
OGDCL has expressed its commitment to "synchronised exploration, drilling, and development efforts" aimed at increasing national production. By leveraging domestic resources, the company contributes to addressing Pakistan's energy demand and reinforcing energy security for the future. The discovery at Uch-35 underscores OGDCL's ongoing efforts to optimise Pakistan's hydrocarbon resources and meet the country's energy needs.
