Sanghar: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s foremost exploration and production company, has initiated oil and gas production at the Baloch-2 exploratory well in Sanghar district, Sindh. The operation, which began recently, is expected to significantly boost the local energy supply, producing about 350 barrels of oil and 5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
According to Zameen.Com, the successful production start-up at Baloch-2 was achieved through the company’s extensive in-house capabilities in delineating, drilling, and testing the well, which reaches a depth of 3,920 meters. The well’s output is now connected to the Sinjhoro Processing Plant, and the gas is being injected into the network of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL). OGDCL holds a 76% working interest in the project, with Orient Petroleum Inc. and GHPL holding 19% and 5% respectively.
This new phase of production aligns with OGDCL’s strategic goals to accelerate exploration and production activities to enhance national energy security and support sustainable development across Pakistan. Earlier in August, the discovery of significant gas condensate reserves at the same well underscored its potential, promising considerable economic benefits from the Sinjhoro block’s Sembar Formation.
