Karachi: The oil and gas industry reported an increase in production levels in August despite a notable decline in exploratory efforts, with significant changes observed in seismic acquisition activities.

According to JS Global, the sector recorded a single gas discovery at the Dolphin X-1 site, operated by PPL, while there were no dry wells reported during the month. Oil and gas production saw an annual increase of 20% and 4%, respectively, largely due to disruptions in RLNG supply. Month-over-month, these figures rose by 5% and 1%.

However, the report highlighted a substantial decline in drilling activities, with exploratory well drilling dropping by 65% and development well drilling decreasing by 53% compared to the previous month. In contrast, seismic acquisition activities showed varied trends; while 2D seismic acquisition was recorded at 6.75 kilometers, 3D seismic acquisition surged by 28% month-over-month.
