PACRA Assigns Initial Entity Ratings to Tufail Multichem Industries

Karachi: The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited has assigned initial entity ratings to Tufail Multichem Industries (Private) Limited, recognizing the company’s established market position as a leading manufacturer of surfactants used in various household and personal care products. The company, a subsidiary of Tufail Multichem Holding Industries (Private) Limited, underwent a restructuring in FY24, resulting in a demerger that provided distinct ownership and management structures, allowing each business to operate independently.

According to the Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited, Tufail Multichem Industries' product portfolio includes several key chemicals, with Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid (LABSA) being the primary contributor to its revenue. The company reported a significant revenue growth of 43.3% in FY26, primarily driven by higher LABSA sales volumes. Despite challenges such as competitive pricing and fluctuations in raw material costs, the company has maintained its market presence and improved its financial performance with increased sales and profitability.

The company primarily serves the domestic market, with the central region being its largest market. While the company benefits from its established presence, the surfactant and chemicals industry faces significant competition, particularly following the termination of anti-dumping duties on LABSA imports in January 2026. Tufail Multichem Industries aims to strengthen its governance framework, particularly by enhancing board independence and oversight. The company's future ratings will rely on its ability to maintain its market position and sustain revenue growth and margin improvements as outlined in its financial projections.
