Karachi: The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited (PACRA) has reaffirmed its Broker Management Rating for Optimus Capital Management (Pvt.) Limited at BMR2, maintaining a stable outlook. The rating reflects the company’s sustained performance amid a robust year for the brokerage industry, marked by significant growth and investor interest in the equity markets.
According to The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited, “Optimus Capital Management, primarily engaged in equity brokerage, alongside advisory and block trades services, benefited from favorable market conditions as the KSE-100 Index hit historic highs.” The agency noted that the economic environment, characterized by decreasing headline inflation and policy rates, spurred investments shifting from fixed-income securities to equities, a trend that may continue influencing market dynamics.
The company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Optimus Holdings (Pvt.) Limited, is controlled by major stakeholders Mr. Jawad Amjad and Mr. Yasin. The review period saw revenue growth primarily through brokerage income, which increased significantly from the previous year. However, PACRA pointed out the need for enhanced governance, recommending an expansion of the board beyond its current single executive director to improve oversight.
Newly appointed CEO, Mr. Syed Ayaz Ahmad, brings over a decade of experience in the financial sector, with specific expertise in economic and investment research, positioning him well to lead Optimus through its next growth phase. PACRA also highlighted the company’s robust IT infrastructure and client relationship management as key strengths.
Looking ahead, PACRA emphasized the importance of maintaining revenue growth and market share while suggesting strategic initiatives like revenue diversification and enhancing the governance framework through the inclusion of independent directors. Furthermore, the agency underlined the necessity of retaining key management personnel and further delineating management roles to support sustainable growth and operational stability.
