Karachi: The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited (PACRA) has maintained the entity ratings of AGP Limited, reflecting the company's established presence in Pakistan's pharmaceutical sector and strategic significance within the OBS Group. AGP's diverse product range and strong market position across multiple therapeutic segments contribute to its robust standing, despite recent revenue challenges.
According to PACRA, AGP Limited operates through three GMP-compliant manufacturing facilities and benefits from a comprehensive nationwide distribution network facilitated by Muller & Phipps Pakistan (Private) Limited. The company's governance is supported by a stable ownership structure under the OBS Group, ensuring business continuity and operational consistency. The pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan demonstrated resilience during the first half of the calendar year 2026, driven by population growth and increasing healthcare awareness. However, the sector faces challenges due to currency fluctuations and dependence on imported raw materials.
AGP Limited recorded consolidated revenue of PKR 11,526 million during 1HCY26, marking a decline of approximately 20% compared to the previous calendar year. The decrease in revenue is attributed to lower exports following the closure of the Afghanistan border and reduced demand for the company's products. Despite the revenue contraction, AGP maintained healthy gross and net profit margins of 59% and 14%, respectively. The company's financial profile remains adequate, supported by comfortable coverage indicators and cash flows, although the net working capital cycle lengthened during the review period.
Looking ahead, AGP's growth prospects are expected to benefit from its diversified product portfolio and established market presence. The commercialization of recently acquired brands, introduction of new molecules, and portfolio expansion are anticipated to support growth. However, the sustainability of topline growth and profitability remains contingent on adequate cash flows and adherence to leverage thresholds.
