Karachi: The Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PAJCCI) successfully conducted its 12th Annual General Meeting, focusing on enhancing bilateral trade and regional connectivity between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The meeting, attended by members from across the country, also saw the announcement of new executive committee members for the 2026-28 term.

According to Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the AGM was presided over by Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chairman PAJCCI, with Mr. Muhammad Jawaid Bilwani, President-Elect, and Mr. Junaid Makda, outgoing President, leading the proceedings. The meeting included members participating through both physical and virtual platforms, reflecting the strong engagement within the organization. Key resolutions included the approval of the revised Memorandum & Articles of Association and the endorsement of the Annual Audited Statement of Accounts for 2025-26.

Mr. Motiwala, in his address, highlighted the significance of separating business from political differences and stressed the importance of strengthening business-to-business relationships between the two nations. He announced the new leadership team for PAJCCI: Mr. Muhammad Jawaid Bilwani as President, Mr. Said Mahmood as Senior Vice President, and Mr. Abdul Ghaffar as Vice President. The new team pledged to address key issues facing the business community, including customs, border closures, and regional trade corridors.

Mr. Bilwani, while acknowledging the efforts of his predecessor, expressed optimism about resolving outstanding trade issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He emphasized the role of PAJCCI in facilitating trade and the need for continued cooperation between the business communities of both countries. The AGM concluded with a commitment from the new executive members to strengthen PAJCCI's role in promoting legitimate trade and economic cooperation.
