KARACHI: Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) Zubair Motiwala and Chairman Businessmen Panel (BMP) Mian Anjum Nisar have announced the formation of the Pakistan Businessmen Alliance (PBA) to contest the upcoming FPCCI Elections 2027-28 for all positions, including the presidency. The alliance aims to unite various business groups under a single platform to advocate for democratic principles, transparency, and the electoral rights of the business community.
According to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Motiwala and Nisar declared during a press conference that the alliance's formation was necessary following recent decisions by the FPCCI Secretary General that raised concerns about fairness and representation, particularly for the Karachi Chamber. The leaders emphasized the alliance's goal to ensure that FPCCI's electoral process adheres to democratic principles and established provincial arrangements.
The announcement was made in the presence of prominent figures, including Vice Chairman BMG Anjum Nisar, President KCCI Talat Mahmood, and other business leaders. The alliance plans to extend its efforts beyond the elections to address Pakistan's economic challenges through reforms, industrialization, and investment promotion.
Motiwala questioned the proposed candidate's affiliations, emphasizing the need for adherence to the rotational arrangement meant to ensure equitable provincial representation. He called for transparency and urged stakeholders to uphold democratic principles and the rotational system to protect Sindh's legitimate rights.
The alliance reaffirmed its commitment to defending KCCI's rights and the business community's representation through legal and regulatory means if necessary, highlighting Karachi's significant economic contribution and the importance of fair representation in FPCCI's leadership.
