Pakistan IT Exports Surge by 33% in April 2026

KARACHI: Pakistan's information technology sector has reported a significant increase in exports, reaching $423 million in April 2026, marking a 33% year-on-year growth and a 2% increase from the previous month. This development has brought the total IT exports for the first ten months of the fiscal year 2026 to $3.8 billion, reflecting a 21% year-on-year rise.

According to JS Global, net IT exports, which account for the difference between exports and imports, recorded a monthly figure of $355 million, showing a 23% year-on-year growth. Despite the government's ambitious target of $5 billion in IT exports for the fiscal year 2026, projections suggest a growth rate of 18-20% during the year, which would result in exports totaling approximately $4.5 billion compared to $3.8 billion in fiscal year 2025.

The government's 'Uraan Pakistan' national economic plan aims to achieve IT exports of $10 billion by fiscal year 2029, setting a compound annual growth rate target of 27% until then. The increase in IT exports highlights the sector's growing contribution to Pakistan's economy and the potential for further expansion in the coming years.
