Karachi: Pakistan's Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) reported a 20% year-on-year decline in sales for June 2026, recording 1.26 million tons. However, sales increased by 7% on a month-on-month basis, as lower fuel prices contributed to the rise. Fiscal Year 2026 sales totaled 16.2 million tons, reflecting a 1% decrease from the previous year.
According to JS Global, the decline in sales compared to June 2025 was primarily due to higher fuel prices. Despite this, the month-on-month increase was attributed to a reduction in fuel prices in June 2026. Excluding Furnace Oil (FO), sales for June 2026 were 1.22 million tons, marking a 15% year-on-year decrease and a 6% month-on-month increase. Ex-FO sales for FY26 remained largely unchanged at 15.6 million tons.
In June 2026, Motor Spirit (MS) prices rose by 32% year-on-year to an average of Rs338 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) prices increased by 34% to an average of Rs346 per litre. On a month-on-month basis, petrol and diesel prices decreased by 16% and 14% respectively.
Product-wise, MS sales dropped by 11% year-on-year but increased by 5% month-on-month to 649,000 tons in June 2026. HSD sales fell by 20% year-on-year, with a 9% month-on-month rise to 497,000 tons. FO sales experienced a significant 68% year-on-year decline but rose 41% month-on-month to 41,000 tons.
Among listed companies, Attock Petroleum's (APL) sales were 104,000 tons in June 2026, showing a 21% year-on-year decrease but a 7% month-on-month increase. Its market share for FY26 fell by 53 basis points to 8.22%. Pakistan State Oil (PSO) saw a 20% year-on-year decrease but a 2% month-on-month rise in sales, totaling 527,000 tons in June 2026. PSO's market share decreased by 226 basis points to 41.9% for the month and by 159 basis points to 42.44% for FY26. Wafi Energy (WAFI) recorded sales of 117,000 tons, down 8% year-on-year and up 13% month-on-month, while HASCOL reported flattish sales year-on-year at 44,000 tons, with a 29% month-on-month increase.
The government had set a Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) collection target of Rs1.47 trillion for FY26. Calculations indicate that PDL collections reached Rs1.51 trillion, surpassing the annual target.
