Kunming: Pakistan demonstrated its commitment to regional trade and investment cooperation by participating in the 10th China-South Asia Exposition and the 30th China Kunming Import & Export Fair. Represented by approximately 130 companies and 327 exhibitors, Pakistan showcased a variety of products and services aimed at enhancing its export potential and economic ties within the region.
According to SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry, emphasized the importance of such platforms for economic integration and trade opportunities. He highlighted the role of the Expo in fostering economic cooperation between Pakistan and China, and connecting businesses across South Asia. Mr. Chandi Raj Dhakal, President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led a significant business delegation, underscoring the Expo's role in advancing regional economic cooperation, with more than 700 enterprises from SAARC member countries participating.
Mr. Dhakal also addressed the inaugural session, noting the substantial trade facilitated by the Expo and the importance of regional connectivity for economic development. H.E. Md. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General of SAARC, called for enhanced regional integration to accelerate inclusive growth across South Asia. Mr. Zulfiqar Butt, Secretary General of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the role of the private sector in promoting regional trade and investment.
The event gathered senior officials, diplomats, and business leaders from over 60 countries, marking a significant occasion for Pakistan-China economic and diplomatic engagement. The Pakistan Pavilion was jointly inaugurated by Pakistan's Ambassador to China, H.E. Khalil Hashmi, and Yunnan Province's Vice Governor, Ms. Yang Yang, signifying a milestone in bilateral relations.
