Pakistan Stock Exchange Experiences Decline Amid Mixed Trading Results

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a decline in its major indices with the KSE100 index experiencing a drop of 993.92 points, closing at 172,642.16, marking a 0.57% decrease from the previous day. Similarly, the KSE30 index fell by 288.52 points, a 0.56% decline, closing at 51,414.64. These movements occurred amidst varied performances from individual stocks and sectors.

According to JS Global, the market capitalization of the PSX saw a 0.72% decrease, bringing it to Rs 19,295.54 billion, equivalent to USD 69.57 billion. The decline in the indices was reflected in the broader market performance, where the year-to-date change for the calendar year 2026 was reported at -0.81% for the KSE100 and -3.54% for the KSE30. The fiscal year 2027 figures showed a -4.25% decline for KSE100 and -4.28% for KSE30.

Despite the downturn in indices, some stocks emerged as gainers. PSEL led the upward trend with a 10% increase, closing at 980.23. Other gainers included CNERGY, which rose by 2.30% to close at 13.32, and HGFA, up by 2.05% to 14.44. Conversely, notable losers included TRG, which dropped by 4.54%, and GHNI, with a decrease of 3.60%.

The trading session concluded with a total volume of 722.62 million shares, amounting to a value of Rs 27.94 billion, or USD 100.74 million. The 52-week high for the KSE100 index stood at 189,166.83, while the low was recorded at 146,480.16, indicating the volatility experienced in recent months.

In the regional context, China’s SSEA index edged up by 0.2%, while India’s BSESN saw a decline of 0.7%. Other Asian markets such as Indonesia’s JKSE increased by 1.0%, while Taiwan’s TWII fell by 0.5%. These mixed results across regional markets underscore the complex global economic landscape influencing local market dynamics.
