Pakistan Stock Exchange Experiences Decline as KSE-100 Falls by 1,463 Points

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a significant downturn as the KSE-100 index dropped by 1,463.59 points, registering a 0.81% decrease. This decline brought the index level to 179,846.69, while the KSE-30 index also fell by 434.78 points, marking a similar 0.81% drop and settling at 53,571.08. The market capitalization of the PSX decreased by 0.57%, reaching Rs 20,141.87 billion.

According to JS Global, prominent gainers on the KSE-100 included IBFL, which saw a 10% increase, PGLC with a 3.33% rise, and GADT with a 2.56% gain. Conversely, notable losers were KOHC, which fell by 3.34%, BOP down by 3.32%, and AICL decreasing by 3.08%. The total volume of shares traded amounted to 860.26 million, with a total value of Rs 38.86 billion.

In the regional context, markets showed varied performances. China's SSEA index decreased by 0.8%, and India's BSESN saw a 0.5% decline. Meanwhile, South Korea's KOSPI rose by 0.7%, and Taiwan's TWII increased by 0.4%. The fluctuations in regional markets reflect ongoing global economic challenges and investor sentiment.
