Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) saw a notable downturn in trading activity, with the KSE30 and KSE100 indices recording significant losses. The KSE30 fell by 1.69 percent, closing at 51,216.76 points, while the broader KSE100 index declined by 1.54 percent, settling at 171,739.45 points. The decline was reflected in the market capitalization, which decreased by 1.35 percent to Rs 19,360.63 billion.
According to JS Global, the day's trading session was marked by a decrease in market performance, as evidenced by the year-to-date declines of 3.91 percent for the KSE30 and 1.33 percent for the KSE100. Among the gainers, YOUW led with a 3.13 percent increase, while SSGC topped the list of losers with a 6.97 percent decline.
The market's total trading volume reached 525.12 million shares, with a total value of Rs 23.43 billion, equivalent to USD 84.30 million. In the regional context, the South Korean KOSPI index exhibited a significant gain of 4.4 percent, contrasting with the losses observed in other Asian markets such as India, which saw a 0.5 percent decline.
Despite the downturn, some stocks showed resilience, with CNERGY leading the volume leaders with 60.71 million shares traded, followed by PRL and TPLP. The PSX's performance remains closely watched by investors, as it navigates through a volatile trading environment.
