Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a slight decline on the latest trading day, as both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices registered drops. The KSE100 index fell by 293.50 points, or 0.18%, closing at 165,517.52, while the KSE30 index decreased by 151.35 points, or 0.30%, ending at 50,169.05.
According to JS Global, several companies saw significant gains, with Adamjee Insurance Company Limited (AICL) leading the pack by increasing its stock price by 8.63% to 80.57. Other notable gainers included International Steels Limited (ISL), Kohat Cement Company Limited (KOHC), and Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL), which saw their stock prices rise by 8.48%, 7.88%, and 7.86%, respectively. Conversely, losers such as Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited (LOTCHEM) and Youm Group (YOUW) saw their stock prices decline by 4.71% and 4.42%, respectively.
The PSX market capitalization fell by 0.32%, standing at Rs 18,264.75 billion (US$ 65.46 billion). The decline in market cap reflects a year-to-date decrease of 7.24%. The total trading volume for the day was 888.57 million shares, with a total value of Rs 54.28 billion (US$ 194.54 million).
In regional markets, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSEA) in China saw a decrease of 0.7%, while the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSESN) in India dropped by 1.2%. Other regional markets, such as the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JKSE) in Indonesia and the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSI), experienced increases of 0.4% and 2.0%, respectively.
