Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced a partnership with the United Kingdom's MOBILIST programme aimed at enhancing private investment in sustainable development and climate transition through the exchange's listed products. This collaboration seeks to bolster Pakistan's financial market ecosystem, particularly in sustainable finance, by leveraging the unique offerings of the MOBILIST initiative.
According to Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, MOBILIST is the sole development finance programme that invests in listed products on public markets, aiming to channel private capital into emerging markets and developing economies to achieve sustainable development outcomes. The programme also generates research to expand understanding of mobilization via public markets, serving as a model for other investors and market participants.
The partnership will focus on engaging PSX's network of issuers and market intermediaries in Pakistan to identify eligible products for support. MOBILIST offers a combination of equity capital, technical assistance, and advisory services to bolster initial public offerings (IPOs) and the creation of new listed products in Pakistan.
Alison Blackburne, Deputy High Commissioner Karachi, emphasized the UK's commitment to partnering with PSX to channel private investment towards businesses addressing climate and development challenges in emerging markets. She highlighted the Parwaaz Green Action Bond as an example of how public markets can effectively mobilize private capital for development.
Farrukh H. Sabzwari, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of PSX, expressed pride in the partnership, noting that it provides essential support for businesses accessing Pakistan's capital market. He emphasized the collaboration's role in bringing sustainable businesses to the public market, facilitating access to capital, and advancing projects aligned with sustainable development goals and net-zero commitments.
