Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a notable rally as both the KSE30 and KSE100 indices posted gains, closing at 50,883.00 and 170,884.59 points, respectively. The indices recorded a day-on-day increase of 1.16% and 1.09%, contributing to a rise in market capitalization to Rs 19,038.15 billion. This comes amidst varied performances in regional markets, with China's SSEA experiencing a 0.9% rise while Malaysia's KLSE saw a 0.5% decline.

According to JS Global, the trading session was marked by significant activity, with a total volume of 576.26 million shares exchanged, translating to a total value of Rs 22.41 billion. Among the notable gainers were YOUW, BNWM, and AIRLINK, with price increases of 4.62%, 4.48%, and 4.43%, respectively. On the other hand, companies like PGLC, PSEL, and GHNI faced losses, with declines of 3.20%, 2.09%, and 1.98%.

The PSX's performance is in contrast to some regional markets, such as Indonesia's JKSE and the Philippines' PSI, which experienced declines of 0.3% and 1.7%, respectively. Meanwhile, Korea's KOSPI and Taiwan's TWII indices observed significant gains, rising by 2.7% and 1.9%.

This positive momentum at the PSX, despite year-to-date declines of 4.54% for CY26 and 5.27% for FY27, comes as a relief to investors amidst fluctuating global market conditions. As the market approaches its 52-week high of Rs 21,304.78 billion, stakeholders remain cautiously optimistic about the potential for further growth.
