Pakistan Stock Exchange Reports Significant Fluctuations in Market Capitalization and Share Turnover

Karachi, In a revealing trend over the last six months, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSE) has demonstrated significant fluctuations in market capitalization and share turnover, according to the latest main board data. The period from September to February saw notable changes in listed capital, market capitalization, and the turnover of shares, alongside variances in the KSE 100 and KSE All Share Indexes.

In September, the listed capital was reported at approximately 6,885,570 million rupees, with a market capitalization of 3,447.734 million rupees. The turnover of shares in the ready market was about 1,621.924 million, while future contracts turnover stood at 46,232.590 million. During this month, the KSE 100 Index and KSE All Share Index were recorded at 31,158.710 and 31,158.710, respectively.

The following month, October, saw an increase in listed capital to 7,551,772.884 million rupees and a significant jump in market capitalization to 8,404.818 million rupees. Share turnover in the ready market rose to 2,531.777 million, with future contracts turnover increasing to 51,920.270 million. The indexes also reflected growth, with the KSE 100 Index at 34,558.220 and the KSE All Share Index at 34,558.220.

November's data further emphasized the upward trend with listed capital reaching 8,729,523.266 million rupees and market capitalization climbing to 14,056.434 million rupees. The turnover of shares in the ready market expanded to 3,686.656 million, and future contracts turnover escalated to 60,531.270 million. The KSE 100 Index stood at 40,324.280, and the KSE All Share Index at 40,324.280.

However, December marked a peak in the observed period with listed capital at 9,062,902.809 million rupees, and market capitalization surging to 21,165.662 million rupees. Share turnover in the ready market reached a high of 5,347.305 million, with future contracts turnover at 62,451.040 million. The KSE 100 Index was at 41,916.270, and the KSE All Share Index at 41,916.270.

In January, there was a decrease in market capitalization to 11,737.426 million rupees, despite the listed capital slightly increasing to 9,073,759.924 million rupees. Share turnover in the ready market was at 4,167.581 million, with future contracts turnover at 61,979.180 million. The KSE 100 Index slightly decreased to 41,892.680, and the KSE All Share Index mirrored this trend.

February's data indicated a continued decrease in market capitalization to 7,190.089 million rupees, with listed capital at 9,225,160.480 million rupees. Share turnover in the ready market dropped to 2,884.350 million, and future contracts turnover decreased to 64,578.520 million. However, the KSE 100 Index increased to 42,840.890, and the KSE All Share Index followed suit.
