Pakistan Stock Exchange Sees Modest Gains Amid Mixed Regional Performance

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a slight uptick in its indices, with the KSE100 gaining 268.58 points, marking a 0.16% increase, closing at 171,153.17. Meanwhile, the KSE30 index rose by 18.99 points, a 0.04% increase, to settle at 50,901.99. These changes come against a backdrop of mixed performances in regional markets.

According to JS Global, the day's trading saw notable activity among various stocks, with YOUW, SSOM, and ATRL emerging as top gainers. YOUW's price rose by 5.24, a 5.22% increase, while SSOM and ATRL saw increases of 5.19% and 3.24%, respectively. On the other hand, PSEL, IBFL, and AIRLINK were among the major losers, with PSEL experiencing the most significant drop of 5.29%.

The market capitalization of PSX stood at Rs 19,041.43 billion, reflecting a modest day-over-day percentage change of 0.02%. In terms of volume, the exchange recorded a total turnover of 692.88 million shares, with a total value of Rs 20.10 billion.

Regionally, markets displayed varied performances. China’s SSEA and Korea’s KOSPI closed with gains of 1.0% and 1.6%, respectively, while Indonesia’s JKSE and the Philippines’ PSI saw declines of 0.9% and 0.2%, respectively. The Indian market, represented by BSESN, posted a 0.8% increase.

As the PSX navigates fluctuating market conditions, these modest gains and losses reflect broader trends and investor sentiments in the region.
