Pakistan Stock Exchange Sees Modest Gains as KSE100 Climbs

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a moderate uptick in trading activity, with the KSE100 index climbing by 594.36 points, or 0.52%, closing at 114,037.79. The KSE30 index also recorded a rise of 159.04 points, reflecting a 0.45% increase, ending the day at 35,794.35.

According to a statement by JS Global, the day's gains were led by Cnergyico PK Limited (CNERGY), which saw a significant rise in its share price by 7.74%, closing at 7.93 per share. Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) followed with a 5.37% increase, while Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited (MLCF) rose by 4.87%.

The overall market capitalization of the PSX saw a slight increase by 0.47%, reaching Rs 14,067.41 billion, or $50.47 billion. Despite the daily gain, the year-to-date change for Calendar Year 2025 (CY25) shows a decrease of 2.96%.

Among the day's top gainers, AGP Limited saw its shares rise by 3.98%, closing at 189.88, while The Searle Company Limited (SEARL) ended the day at 106.84, marking a 4.20% increase. Conversely, the market also witnessed some declines, with Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POML) dropping by 7.54% and EFU General Insurance Limited (EFUG) declining by 3.98%.

Trading volume reached 675.54 million shares, with a total value of Rs 30.47 billion, or approximately $109.32 million. Cnergyico PK Limited (CNERGY) led in trading volume, with 143.69 million shares changing hands.

The PSX's performance was in contrast to mixed results in regional markets. China's SSEA index rose by 0.5%, while Korea's KOSPI fell by 1.2%. Other regional indices, including those in India and Malaysia, showed minor variations.

Overall, the PSX's positive performance was underpinned by gains in the cement and pharmaceutical sectors, reflecting investor sentiment and market dynamics on the day.
