Pakistan Stock Exchange Sees Significant Gains as KSE100 and KSE30 Indices Surge

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a notable rally with its key indices, KSE100 and KSE30, posting substantial gains. The KSE100 index climbed by 5,433.49 points, marking a 3.49 percent increase, while the KSE30 index rose by 1,890.98 points, a 3.95 percent rise, reflecting a robust performance in the market.

According to JS Global, the session saw the KSE100 index reaching a level of 161,210.69, with significant contributions from gainers such as Attock Refinery Limited (ATRL), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTC), and National Refinery Limited (NRL), which recorded increases of 10.00 percent, 9.89 percent, and 9.65 percent, respectively. The PSX's market capitalization increased by 3.31 percent to reach Rs 18,102.03 billion, equivalent to US$ 64.79 billion.

Volume leaders included K-Electric Limited (KEL), which traded 115.63 million shares, and Cnergyico Pk Limited (CNERGY) with 42.46 million shares. Despite the positive trend, some stocks like Abbott Laboratories Pakistan Limited (ABOT) and Hinopak Motors Limited (HINOON) saw declines, with decreases of 3.50 percent and 2.42 percent, respectively.

The regional markets also displayed mixed performances, with Korea's KOSPI index notably rising by 9.6 percent, while Indonesia's JKSE showed a decline of 10.8 percent year-to-date. The trading session at PSX underscored strong investor interest, as the total trading volume reached 723.88 million shares, with a total trading value of Rs 35.18 billion or approximately US$ 125.91 million.
