Pakistan Stock Exchange Witnesses Decline as KSE100 Index Falls Over 2,288 Points

Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a notable decline, with the KSE100 index dropping by over 2,288 points, marking a 1.36% decrease. The market capitalization also saw a reduction, shrinking by approximately 1.39% to stand at Rs 18,464.45 billion. This decline in the index was accompanied by a downturn in the KSE30 index, which fell by 633 points, representing a 1.26% decrease.

According to JS Global, the day's trading session saw several stocks experiencing both gains and losses. Among the gainers, IBFL saw an increase of 1.22%, while POL and TGL rose by 1.16% and 0.81%, respectively. Conversely, significant losses were recorded by CPHL, which fell by 9.35%, and PSX, which decreased by 9.07%. The total market turnover was 441.90 million shares, with the total trading value amounting to Rs 15.71 billion.

The broader market sentiment reflected a year-to-date decline of 4.70% in the KSE100 index for the current calendar year, with the fiscal year showing an 8.01% drop. Despite the day's losses, the market remains above its 52-week low, which was recorded at 146,480.16 points. Regional markets showed mixed performances, with notable gains in Taiwan and the Philippines, while Indonesia experienced the most significant decline.
