Karachi: Pakistan's stock market witnessed a notable decline in its key indices on the latest trading day, as the KSE-30 and KSE-100 indices fell by 1.06% and 1.01% respectively. This downturn reflects broader trends in regional markets, where declines were also observed across major Asian indices.
According to JS Global, the KSE-30 index closed at 50,739.70 points, while the KSE-100 index settled at 170,498.95 points. The market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange decreased by 1.08%, bringing it down to Rs 18,971.04 billion, or approximately $68.45 billion. This decline has been part of a broader trend over the year, with year-to-date percentages showing a decrease of 4.81% for the calendar year 2026 and 5.54% for the fiscal year 2027.
The day's trading saw significant activity among certain stocks. Cnergyico PK Limited (CNERGY) was the volume leader with 158.26 million shares traded, followed by K-Electric (KEL) and First National Equities Limited (FNEL), which saw volumes of 71.89 million and 59.94 million shares respectively. The total turnover amounted to 759.97 million shares, with a trading value of Rs 27.54 billion.
Among the gainers, Gallop Pakistan Limited (GAL) led with a price increase of 7.44, translating to a 1.38% rise. Conversely, K-Electric Limited (KEL) experienced the most significant loss, with a 7.35% drop in its share price.
The regional market context showed similar downward trends in major Asian indices, including a 1.7% drop in India's BSESN and a 1.2% decline in China's SSEA. The broader market sentiment remains cautious amid these declines, reflecting ongoing volatility in global financial markets.
