Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a minor decline in its main indices on the latest trading day, with the benchmark KSE-100 index closing at 138,217.58 points, down by 379.78 points, representing a 0.27% decrease. The KSE-30 index also saw a reduction, ending the day at 42,154.95 points, a drop of 185.86 points or 0.44%.
Despite the overall decline, some stocks recorded gains. Packages Limited (PABC) saw a price increase of 8.50 points, a 5.47% rise, while Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited (UPFL) increased by 988 points, a 4.03% gain. Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) also rose by 8.54 points, marking a 2.90% increase.
Conversely, some stocks faced losses. Youwecan Ventures (YOUW) dropped by 0.18 points, a 3.54% decrease. Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POML) fell by 6.92 points, marking a 2.98% decline, while Pakistan General Insurance Company (PKGP) decreased by 4.60 points, a 2.83% drop.
The market capitalization of the PSX stood at 16,505.02 billion rupees, witnessing a minor 0.07% decline. In U.S. dollars, the market cap was 57.92 billion.
The day's trading also saw significant activity in terms of volume, with a total of 608.19 million shares traded. The total value of shares traded amounted to 23.52 billion rupees, or 82.55 million U.S. dollars.
The regional markets showed varied performances. China's Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SSEA) increased by 0.7%, while India's BSE Sensex rose by 0.5%. In contrast, Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) saw a slight decline of 0.1%.
Overall, despite the declines in key indices, individual stock performances varied, reflecting a mixed sentiment among investors on the trading day.
