Pakistan’s International Hand-Knotted Carpet Exhibition Aims to Boost Exports and Cultural Heritage

Lahore: Pakistan's International Hand-Knotted Carpet Exhibition, set to take place in Lahore from October 6 to 8, is anticipated to significantly enhance the country's exports, promote economic growth, and preserve its cultural heritage, according to Ejaz-ur-Rehman, Chairperson of the Carpet Training Institute (CTI). The event is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s trade relations with international markets.

According to Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Ejaz-ur-Rehman addressed a meeting of manufacturers and exporters, emphasizing the exhibition's role as a prime opportunity for expanding exports, exploring new markets, and establishing direct business links with global buyers. He expressed confidence that the event would lead to export agreements worth millions of dollars, benefiting Pakistan’s carpet industry. The exhibition aims to showcase the craftsmanship of Pakistani artisans and bolster the country's reputation as a leading producer of hand-knotted carpets.

Ejaz-ur-Rehman highlighted the importance of international exhibitions in increasing exports, attracting foreign buyers, and fostering global partnerships. He noted that these events are crucial for countries with long-standing weaving traditions to preserve and project their artistic heritage on the international stage. He cited major global carpet exhibitions in Germany, Turkiye, China, India, Tehran, and Baku as among the most prestigious platforms for the industry.

The Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association has organized the exhibition for the past 42 consecutive years, a distinction that Ejaz-ur-Rehman described as a source of pride for both the Association and the country's carpet sector. He urged manufacturers and exporters to participate actively by showcasing high-quality hand-knotted carpets with contemporary designs and innovative color combinations, reflecting global trends to attract more international buyers and enhance Pakistan's export potential.
