Karachi: Pakistan's information technology exports have marked a significant increase, reaching $435 million in September, representing a 19% year-over-year growth. This surge also reflects a 10% month-over-month rise, attributed to a higher number of working days during the month.
According to JS Global, the country's IT exports for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 amounted to $1.25 billion. On a trailing twelve-month basis, the exports reached $4.8 billion, registering a 20% increase compared to the $4.0 billion recorded during the same period in the previous year. Furthermore, net IT exports, which account for exports minus imports, totaled $364 million in September, marking a 10% year-over-year increase.
In alignment with its national economic plan "Uraan Pakistan," the government has set an ambitious target for IT exports, aiming for $10 billion by fiscal year 2029. This target implies a compound annual growth rate of 27.8% over the next few years, highlighting the sector's potential as a key contributor to the country's economic development.
