Pakistan’s Remittance Surge Reflects Economic Reliance

Karachi: Pakistan's remittance inflows have reached a notable milestone, with US$9.5 billion recorded in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. This represents an 8% year-on-year increase, according to data released by JS Global.

In September 2025 alone, remittances amounted to US$3.2 billion, marking a 1% rise compared to the same month last year. The data highlights the crucial role remittances continue to play in stabilizing Pakistan's external account by consistently offsetting the trade deficit.

The United Arab Emirates has seen a resurgence in remittance contributions, climbing back to 21% of total inflows in September 2025, up from a low of 18% in the previous fiscal year. This increase is largely attributed to relaxed emigration restrictions, particularly in Dubai, which has seen steady growth in remittances from Pakistani expatriates in the Gulf region.

As Pakistan faces renewed external pressures, the steady flow of remittances remains a vital component in managing the country's economic challenges.
