Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has sanctioned seven key projects for Islamabad, earmarking a total investment of PKR 9 billion aimed at enhancing the region's road infrastructure and healthcare services for the fiscal year 2024-25.
According to Zameen.Com, the approved projects include significant road rehabilitations and the development of healthcare facilities. Notable among these are the PKR 2.095 billion rehabilitation of the Kasur to Raiwind Road and the construction of a new flyover at Jhal Road Railway Crossing in Sahiwal City, budgeted at PKR 914 million. The initiatives also include the dualization of roads in Faisalabad and Rahim Yar Khan, with investments amounting to PKR 1.767 billion and PKR 1.025 billion, respectively.
The healthcare sector will benefit from the Infection Control Programme Phase II, which has been allocated PKR 473.636 million. This project aims to bolster disease prevention infrastructure and capabilities across the region.
The meeting that decided these allocations was attended by high-level officials including the Secretary of the Planning and Development (P and D) Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Dr. Nasir Iqbal Malik, and other senior board members and representatives from relevant provincial departments. These projects reflect the government's commitment to improving critical infrastructure and healthcare services, which are expected to significantly enhance connectivity and the quality of medical care in Islamabad.
