Islamabad: Pakistan's prominent telecom and digital service providers, PTCL and Ufone, have attained PCI DSS v4.0.1 certification for 2026, enhancing their secure payment card data management and adherence to international cybersecurity standards. According to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, the certification was granted by Risk Associates, a globally acknowledged PCI Qualified Security Assessor, after an independent evaluation of PTCL and Ufone's cloud infrastructure and cardholder data environment.
The certification confirms the implementation of security controls aimed at mitigating risks linked to data breaches, fraud, and unauthorized access, thereby bolstering customer trust in secure digital transactions. Jafar Khalid, Chief Technology and Information Officer at PTCL and Ufone, stated that achieving this certification demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to aligning with global security standards and safeguarding sensitive customer data. Kashif Hassan, Managing Director of Risk Associates, acknowledged PTCL and Ufone's strong compliance with PCI DSS v4.0.1 requirements, citing their mature cloud infrastructure and secure data handling practices.
