PTCL Group Reports 14% Revenue Growth in Q1 Amid Expanding Digital Services

Islamabad, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the nation's top telecom and ICT service provider, has reported a 14% year-over-year revenue increase for the first quarter of 2024. Despite a net loss, the group has seen robust growth in its consumer services, particularly in fixed broadband and mobile data.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, the PTCL Group's revenue surged to Rs 49 billion in Q1, driven primarily by strong performances in fixed broadband, mobile data, and business solutions. However, the group also reported a net loss of Rs 4.8 billion, which is a 16% improvement compared to the previous year. PTCL's own revenue grew by 13% during this period, reaching Rs 26 billion, with significant contributions from its fixed line and business solutions segments.

The group's Flash Fiber service, a premium Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) offering, continued to dominate the FTTH market in Pakistan, marked by aggressive expansion and enhanced customer experiences. This growth is part of PTCL’s broader strategy to bolster digital infrastructure across Pakistan and promote a more inclusive digital economy.

The introduction of SHOQ TV, a cutting-edge Android TV box, at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, is another highlight of PTCL's commitment to digital innovation. This device integrates multiple Google apps and features a user-friendly interface, aimed at transforming the home entertainment experience for consumers.

Furthermore, PTCL’s Business Solutions segment has continued to lead the market in IP Bandwidth, Cloud, Data Center, and other ICT services, growing its revenue by 9% quarterly. The segment remains a pivotal part of PTCL's strategy to foster a 'Digital Pakistan', providing robust telecommunications infrastructure and a diverse range of services to enhance customer satisfaction and propel national progress.

On the mobile front, PTML’s Ufone 4G reported a 27% year-over-year growth in revenue, supported by extensive network modernization and the introduction of value-added services. These initiatives have significantly improved digital engagement and customer experience, strengthening Ufone’s position in the competitive market.

In addition, PTCL Group's Ubank has been active in promoting financial inclusion through its comprehensive suite of services, ranging from microfinance and branchless banking to corporate and investment banking. Recent initiatives include international remittances via e and from the GCC, collaborations with Mastercard, and various digital enhancements aimed at expanding the group's digital footprint.

Corporate social responsibility remains a key focus for PTCL Group, which has been actively involved in disaster relief efforts and social empowerment projects. One notable initiative is the collaboration with PPAF to equip 100 women entrepreneurs with smartphones and digital skills in Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the "Ba-Ikhtiar" program, demonstrating PTCL's commitment to community support and digital inclusion.
