Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a new housing initiative, “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar,” designed to facilitate homeownership for low-income families across Punjab through an easy installment plan without hidden interest costs.

According to Zameen.Com, the scheme will be implemented in three phases and will offer loans of up to PKR 1.5 million. In rural areas, loans will cover houses up to 10 marlas with a monthly payment of PKR 14,000, while in urban areas, the same loan amount will apply for houses up to 5 marlas with identical monthly payments. Details for major cities, involving four-story flats, will be announced separately.

The scheme will partner with private housing developers to construct homes ranging from 3 to 5 marlas, supported by government subsidies of up to PKR 1 million per house, making homeownership more affordable. The initiative targets low-income earners throughout the province and is already operational in select districts, with plans for annual expansion.

Dr. Amjad Saqib, founder and chairman of the Akhuwat Foundation, met with CM Nawaz to praise the launch of this significant initiative. CM Nawaz emphasized the government’s commitment to providing affordable housing solutions and fulfilling the homeownership dreams of low-income families in Punjab.
