Punjab Government Expands Affordable Housing Initiative in Semi-Urban Areas

Lahore: The Punjab government has announced its intention to integrate its ongoing low-cost housing schemes into the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ initiative, aiming to provide affordable homes to middle- and lower-income families in semi-urban areas.

According to Zameen.Com, during the ninth meeting of the Punjab Cabinet’s Standing Committee on Legislation, the Department of Housing and Urban Development presented a detailed briefing on the progress of housing projects in Lahore, Sargodha, and Chiniot. These projects focus on constructing units up to three marlas, targeting the increasing demand for budget-friendly housing options in these regions.

The committee has urged the Department of Housing to accelerate the completion of these projects. It has ordered an immediate release of funds to facilitate timely construction and ensure the homes are delivered without delay. Final approval from the Punjab Cabinet is pending, but once granted, these projects will be fully integrated into Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s flagship ‘Apna Chhat Apna Ghar’ program.

This step is poised to be a crucial development in the government’s efforts to expand access to affordable housing throughout Punjab, aiming to reach a broader segment of the population.
