Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced the ‘Himmat Card’ initiative, providing ATM cards to persons with disabilities (PWDs) for financial assistance. This program is set to distribute ATM cards to 65,000 PWDs across the province, with a quarterly stipend of PKR 10,500 to each recipient.

According to Zameen.Com, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Department of Social Welfare and the Bank of Punjab in the presence of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The initiative reflects the government’s effort to support vulnerable citizens, with the Bank of Punjab responsible for distributing the cards. The disbursement of funds is scheduled to begin on September 15, with the rollout occurring in two phases: 40,000 PWDs in the first phase and an additional 25,000 in the second phase.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, speaking at the signing ceremony, emphasized the state’s duty to care for its needy citizens, especially individuals with disabilities. She noted that supporting the less fortunate is both a moral obligation and a top priority for her administration.
