Punjab Government Subsidizes Agricultural Equipment to Boost Rice Farming Efficiency

Lahore, In a significant move to advance agricultural mechanization, the Punjab Government has launched a subsidy program providing super seeders and rice straw shredders to 700 farmers at a 60% discounted rate. This initiative marks the beginning of a broader strategy aimed at distributing 5,000 such machines across the region to enhance the efficiency of rice farming.

According to Zameen.Com, Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani highlighted the program's commitment to quality in the manufacturing of these machines. The initiative is part of a larger effort involving the subsidy of more than 23,200 modern agricultural tools and machinery, totaling an investment of PKR 10 billion. This ambitious project is designed to promote mechanized agriculture, improve land fertility, and streamline the wheat sowing process following paddy cultivation.

The Punjab Agriculture Department, which is managing this initiative, has outlined a process that includes receiving applications from farmers and conducting a transparent balloting system to ensure fair distribution. The department, in collaboration with NESPAK, is responsible for the thorough inspection of these machines before they are handed over to the nominated farmers by June.
