Punjab Tax Department Offers Rebate for Early Property Tax Payments

Islamabad: The Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab is urging property owners to pay their taxes early to benefit from a 5% rebate. This incentive is available until the September 30 deadline, as part of efforts to encourage timely compliance and boost fiscal revenue.

According to Zameen.Com, Deputy Director Khalid Hussain Qasoori stated that property tax notices, which include the rebate details, have been distributed. Property owners can also find these notices online. The initiative aims to motivate both business and residential property owners to settle their taxes during the rebate period to avoid future penalties.

The campaign has been met with a significant response from the public, with the department actively promoting the rebate through a public awareness campaign that includes banners and social media outreach. The target for the current fiscal year is set at PKR 1.22 billion, with the department aiming to achieve 60% of this, approximately PKR 750 million, by the end of September.

Property owners who fail to meet the deadline face a 1% monthly surcharge, along with potential arrest warrants and property confiscation for non-compliance.
